How did you get your start in triathlon?

“A couple of my friends on my high school swim team wanted to do a relay at the Disney Triathlon in 2003. That sparked my interest in triathlon. I did the same race all by myself the next year. Then I joined the triathlon club at the University of Florida (the TriGators) and that's when I really got into the sport.”

What is your favorite race finish or moment?

“My favorite Purple Patch related race finish was St. George 70.3 in 2016. I was in fourth with about 600 meters to go, trying to hold off Brent McMahon of Canada. I ran by Matt and Paul. “Good man, great race. Well done," they said. They hadn't seen Brent yet, but when they finally saw him, he was much closer than I thought and all I heard was Matt change his tone and yell "YOU BETTER <expletive> GOOOOO!!!" I held him off, but just barely - and probably wouldn't have if Matt hadn't scared the absolute $*** out of me.”

Why Purple Patch?

“Matt's philosophy is what originally brought me to Purple patch, along with his previous success with other pro athletes. It has become a collaborative relationship chasing world class performance, and it's been fun joining the coaching team to hopefully pass on the knowledge I've gained to my athletes.”
